Chapter 38 – Cleaned (End)

Chapter 38 – Cleaned (End)

Due to not willing to meet directly with Jeff, Rumont complied with it, again applying for the Adventurers Guild to act in paying back Jeff’s 300 silver coins. Although there was a fee of 30 silver coins, he was however indifferent to it. After all, he had laundered everything. He could completely withdraw over a thousand gold coins without anyone suspecting.

So far, the debts were completely cleared.

Ricca town. Tax Officer Barcas who had an gloomy expression in which water could have been squeezed out of, hurriedly visited the town’s Agricultural Goddess’ Shrine. Along the way, all the people that didn’t see his expression clearly and attempted to greet and flatter him, were all berated without restraint for a period; the reasons were all fantastically odd, from the food stuck between a person’s teeth to the colour of their clothes, all of it was worth the Tax Officer’s extreme anger.

“Priest Dennis sir!” after visiting the Shrine, the Tax Officer saluted with his cap off, “I have something I wish to speak with you privately.”

Priest Dennis’ face showed a standard smiling expression for a Priest: “sure, as you wish Mister Barcas.“1 He performed an inviting gesture.

Within a small room by the Shrine, Barcas carefully shut the door. Afterwards. he turned around and used an unusually eerie tone to say: “Dennis, that animal Rumont has completely cleared his debts———his uncle from who knows where, left him a large inheritance; he’s rich now. I heard this from the town’s Adventure Guilds’ Barry2.”

Dennis was startled, following which his face involuntarily twitched. He thought for a moment before snarling out: “WHAT? He’s rich now, meaning he can legally obtain the qualifications for a residence in Appleseed city, that place isn’t Ricca town, it’s not our domain. We can’t do anything to him, we NEED to get him back!”

Barcas also growled back: “that damned Banner, he unexpectedly dared to bring Rumont to Appleseed, the next time his caravan arrives, I need to heavily seize his goods and tax him. I need to let him know that offending me, Barcas, he doesn’t even need to think about business in Ricca!”

Dennis coldly said: “Barcas, Rumont’s friends Nick and also Fafnir are still in town. For treating Nick’s injury, Rumont owes Jeff a large sum of money. He’s an emotional person, you need to go greatly inconvenient these people. As well as the inn Mort couple, they sheltered Rumont and treated him quite well, you can also go and trouble them. However, you need to remember, only need to cause them sorrows, making them cry out in pain and call Rumont back! “

Barcas looked at Dennis and suddenly sneered: “Dennis, you’re telling me to be the evil man again right? Rumont is an external resident, he doesn’t have any roots in town. However, good old man Mort is different, he’s the Law Officer, Garen’s3 younger brother. Even Fafnir’s family is different, Fafnir’s father Old Barney4 was once a Lieutenant, dying on behalf of the Lord. I don’t wish to ruin my business reputation in town and having the Baron Lord expelling me from the Tax Officer position! In any case, Rumont is an inhabitant of Ricca, if he ever wants to obtain the right for residency in Appleseed, he definitely needs to come back to Ricca town to handle the formalities at the Governmental Office. At that time, would I still have a way of dealing with him?”

Speaking to this point, Barcas gave a laugh: “Mister Dennis, I came today to merely inform you of this news.”

The Tax Officer gave a salute before wearing his cap, turned around and left.

Priest Dennis was left behind, his complexion adventitiously gloomy.

Midday approached at Appleseed city. The sun hid behind layers of lead-gray coloured clouds. People that raised their heads could still see a faint light disc. Yvette didn’t come deliver the food, someone else had delivered the food. Hearing from Alex, Old Waylon temporarily had something on; being unable to get the food, they could only temporarily ask another person to substitute.

Completing 3 sets of compounds, Rumont then simply went to his room, covered his head and slept———in reality though, he went into the Shennong Horn spatial region to learn herbal knowledge.

In a short while, night had arrived, Rumont got up from his bed and memorized a book for a while, before observing a while in the spatial region, gradually, he yawned.

He went by to side of the window, an incomplete hooked moon was suspended in the skies. The month was nearly over. Looking at the time, he thought the night was getting late, he climbed into bed and gradually drifted off.

“Zhiya……”5 an unknown amount of time passed, the room door made a slight creaking noise before someone pushed it open.

“Who is it……” Rumont’s voice in his throat solidly halted.

The person that came wore a big tawny hued cape with a hood covering their face, “xu6” the stranger extended a finger and placed it against their lips.

“Yvette it’s late, why did you come?” Rumont asked in a low voice.

The hood was taken away, exposing a head of long golden yellow tresses that fell like a waterfall, with a moonlight face as if it were sculpted out of jade, it was Yvette.

“Rumont, I missed you.” Yvette abruptly threw herself into Rumont’s chest.

“Yvette? What’s happened?” Rumont endured the fright, catching ahold of the maiden’s shoulders. Just as he wanted to ask something, a lilac scented small tongue wandered over, seemingly prying open his jaw.

“Rumont, I love you.” the maiden’s face was flushed while boldly watching Rumont’s eyes, each word of the sentence said resolutely.

“Yvette……” Rumont cupped the maiden’s face, her face was like the full moon without the slightest flaw.

“Then, Rumont, come love me too.” the maiden said as she undid the clasp on her cape, the cape slid to the ground.

It was as if lightning struck Rumont, his mind a blank space. Under the moonlight was a maiden, with a delicate yet brimming with youthful vitality body laid bare. Just like a fairy that had appeared out of a classic oil painting. In his mind, it was as if some string labelled as reason snapped away. He stepped forward, embracing the young maiden into his chest……

The night passed by. The early morning sunlight passed through the window and shone on in. Rumont awoke from amidst his slumber. He yawned. Suddenly, he felt quite strange, last night, what did he dream about?

It seemed to have been a dream extremely full of passion!

Rumont used his hand to support his head, carefully recalling. All of a sudden in sweeping his vision, he fiercely got up from the bed. There was a sheepskin coil on his table, he promptly rushed over opened it up. Contained on it was an utterly simple message: I’m leaving Rumont, if we ever have a day of meeting again, then you have to remember me.

Then yesterday, it wasn’t a dream? Yvette took the initiative to offer herself, as well as not opening the pub early on yesterday. A day without even a trace of the father daughter duo. All of everything, just like scattering pearls that were strung on a thread.

Rumont urgently hurried to dress up, heading towards Old Waylon’s pub. Upon arriving the doorway, it was once again a sealed entrance.

Rumont dithered around the outside for an extended period of time until he let out a sigh, slowly heading back.

Time passed. Spring quietly visited Appleseed city. Old Waylon’s pub in the east had swapped owners early on. There were those that remembered Old Waylon’s cider and Earthen Wolf meat, however, the news of the missing Waylon and daughter were already unable to pique the interest of the city dwellers.

Maybe Old Waylon discovered some treasure in the cellar of his pub, and so the same night left with his daughter and the treasure. Perhaps Old Waylon was a wanted Thief from another city, with his whereabouts leaked, he thus had no choice but to escape that night. Perhaps……perhaps had nothing to do with Rumont.

Pastor Field gulf. Rumont stood by the beach. His contract of a month had ended without choosing to renew it, and he left just like that from Sackville’s workplace.

Afterwards he was east of the city, outside at a small village area close to the gulf and had found a small inn to live in. Just like a Druid, he meditated and self-disciplined on Nature.

Time flowed lightning fast in this fashion. In the blink of an eye, it was the first month of the next year.

On this day, Rumont was inside a forest by the ocean side, he was lying on top of the grassy field.

Inside the Shennong Horn, golden light radiance spilled over living things, the light globe as before was suspended 30 metres high.

The entire spatial region was roughly 2 mu and was all shrouded within a beautiful halo. A small creek divided the fields into 2 halves. Rumont noticed it had not all grown much at all, or perhaps it was because there wasn’t much food?

Perhaps he should consider some variety of water plants and such? Rumont thought it over.

The land of 2 mu was evidently divided into 2 halves, one section was 30 fruit trees. As for the previously planted genetically modified wheat, it was already harvested. Without taking it out, it was stored away. In any case, he didn’t need to replant it, the grains could be preserved for an extremely long period.

As for the other half, it was completely filled with Blue Grass. A type of vague like vapour, carrying about a clear fragrance, spiraled around the whole region, without a doubt it nourished the Blue Grass. The Blue Grass grew exceedingly lush, it was already mature.

A semi-transparent data screen automatically appeared. The data screen bought about a dull light as it floated in one’s field of view. A large amount of figures appeared in front of Rumont: “Rank 2 spatial region has reached the criterion for promotion, upgrade now?”

“Promote!” Rumont again excitedly said.

What followed on was a large flourishing amount of green light abruptly expanded, shading the spatial region borders a green hue. From the void, land soil appeared, and practically at the same time, the luminosity of the light globe also increased. The spatial region expanded upwards to 50 metres, the light globe floated up, still illuminating the whole region.

Rumont took a survey, feeling that the spatial region had expanded to roughly 5 mu, once again doubling in land.

“Spatial region upgrade complete. Increased efficacy of plants by 5 percent. Synchronizing physical resonance, undergoing transformation of the host!” Along with the voice, a green light once again suffused the place and spread to Rumont’s body.

When Rumont’s outside body exhibited this green light, the forest also overflowed with rippling rings. Spring time plants undulated their stems and leaves, wavering about, motes of green light hovered around.

A short breeze gently blew over, the forest emitted a “sha sha” sound.

It was this kind of “sha sha” sound that formed a type of physical resonance. Only it was different to last time. This time, Rumont was conscious. He not only saw the green light of the spatial region, but also the traces of green lights from the forest, both slowly flowing into his body.

The green hued core rapidly revolved, absorbing these few green lights. When it reached some sort of limit, it suddenly sounded a “hong”. The green core had expanded.

Presently in a split second, Rumont felt his own green light, and the entire forest becoming one. However, this was only a momentary feeling. In the blink of an eye it vanished. After calming down, he again heard a voice: “detected unknown Bloodline within the body, activate now?”

Rumont at once endured his fright and asked: “what bloodline?”

A dull speck of light again suddenly appeared in front and rapidly enlarged, changing into a semi-transparent data screen. The data screen bought about a dull glowing feel as it floated within vision. However, it only had one line: “unknown bloodline, benefiting Nature attribute, activate now?”

Rumont grabbed his hair, thinking that his body could have some sort of divine bloodline. He was filled with expectations, after hesitating a moment he said: “activate!”

There was a momentary shock within his body. The semi-transparent data screen slowly unfolded: “due to the result of activating your bloodline, excessive amount of energy was consumed, this spatial region can no longer bestow a new skill.”

Rumont was a touch regretful, however he immediately examined.

Name: Rumont (Qian Pinji)

Biological Race: Human (unknown bloodline)

Attributes: Strength 11 (10), Agility 16 (10), Constitution 11 (10), Intelligence 13 (10), Wisdom 15 (10), Charisma 15 (10)

Occupation: Highest Authoritative Spatial Overlord, Rank 2 Druid

List of Skills:

Permanently set ——— Spiritual detection

Elementary Footwork Level 2

Elementary Swordsmanship Level 2

Increased attribute base via spatial region: able to accommodate grass eating herbivores!

In order to examine, Rumont after a while caught a wild rabbit and released it inside. It indeed could be placed inside. Also examining his own Heart of Nature, that green light shroud had expanded to roughly 5 centimetres. As for the spells produced by the core, it also increased by a lot. Every day, it was possible to create 5 Rank 1 Druid spells, 4 Rank 0 Druid spells.

Rumont was soon filled with joy. After a good while, Rumont looked at his own right palm, before making it into a fist: “I’m finally a Rank 2 Druid.”

For each Rank promotion, the influence and status it brought would be completely different.

Rumont got up, following on he then went towards the city’s Adventurer Guild to get his authentication handled, which was smoothly passed; bringing a new profession symbol. When he left the city, Rumont did not even have the least bit of joyful sentiment, he instead displayed melancholy.

Yvette really did sadly leave without a sound. He had once gone and asked Mage Sackville, in the end, the Old Magician shook his head with a forced smile and told him: Waylon had once for a short period gone out alone to cultivate. Afterwards, he brought back a daughter. As for what happened in the short period, Waylon never mentioned it.

“There will be a day, we’ll meet again.” Rumont said to himself in a low voice. No matter how, after passing such an odd night, her impression was exceptionally more distinct.

“At Pastor Field Gulf, I would think back on the events of me and Yvette practicing sword work, I would think how she used her handkerchief to wipe my sweat, she would use a kiss as a reward; at the eastern district of Appleseed city, I would think of the scene that I first saw her, I would think of how she delivered food to me, the image of her rushing to wash my clothes; at the city bazaar, I would think of the gifts I bought her, her pleasantly surprised manner; I would think of how we held hands, wandering aimlessly along the streets……”

“Yvette, I won’t forget you. I need to leave Appleseed, this city of too many heavy memories.”

Rumont lifted his head, taking big strides towards Appleseed city. Today, at Kramp’s commerce, Banner’s caravan group, wanting to visit Ricca was currently waiting for him.
