Chapter 106 – Guest (End)

Apart from Fudi having seen it once, the other people were farmer tenants of the estate, but it was still their first time in coming to such a place. Though they had long heard of the miracle of Rumont’s greenhouse, seeing it for the first time was still mind-blowing.

Entering deep into the greenhouse in the underground chamber, the rows of nursery beds growing with lush herbs, juxtaposed against the vast expanse of white outside, it further illustrated how outstanding a Druid, and a greenhouse was.

Treading the stone steps and solemnly heading inside, the expressions of their faces were truly splendid and exceedingly so.

As for Miss Ivis that followed up at the back, when she travelled through the passage, she once again revealed an expression of sadness.

“We’ve arrived, here we are.” Rumont stood at the centre of the underground greenhouse hall and gazed at the thriving scenery, his face also revealed a quite exultant expression.

“My Lord, where should we first start?” Fudi asked with respect.

Rumont just pointed at the expanse of herbs on top of the nursery beds near the entrance: “you can first start there then. The methods of harvesting the herbs should have been informed to you guys by someone else already. Lightly and quickly, store them carefully———you can just start then.”

“Yes, my Lord!” not only Fudi, the other people also answered back.

In the following, bustling began within the greenhouse; a scenery of many toiling away. Because these were true farming tenants, they weren’t novices at harvesting. Thus, Rumont basically didn’t need to act himself with them there. He only needed to just stand to the side and be specifically in-charge of instructing them in how to better harvest the herbs, as to avoid ruining the efficacy of the herbs as a result.

“Lord Rumont, I’m so glad that it was you that answered the call of my exchange mission. In the coming short period, I hope I can live at this place and take part in an exchange with you, especially allowing me to work inside the greenhouse.” Miss Ivis saw that he had a bit of leisure and spoke.

“Can you say what it’s about?” Rumont was curious as he asked.

Seeing Miss Ivis’ attire, though it simple, it was intrinsically quite expensive. She oughtn’t be the type to be lacking in spending money, furthermore, from the few subtleties of her gestures, he had discovered that Miss Ivis’ disposition was quite good. It was quite possible that she was of a noble household background, that didn’t want to show off. This kind of lady was unexpectedly wanting to stay in his greenhouse and work?

Seeing the obvious perplexity of Rumont, Miss Ivis beamed a smile and explained: “it’s like this, it’s because my dream is to become a genuine Druid. I hope to be able to travel even farther on the Dao path of a Druid. Rumont, you’re a Druid with a name in the neighbourhood, in the past when I heard of you, I still didn’t quite believe it; until today. Seeing your constructed greenhouse, I just knew that it is indeed like this. I wish to remain at the greenhouse just for the sake of continuing to learn, and I also wish to experience the sensation of a greenhouse. You understand that as a Rank 3 Druid, desiring one’s own greenhouse is a however difficult matter.”

When she spoke these words, her expression was quite serious and also quite distinct.

When Rumont finished listening to her words, he then laughed: “okay then, Miss Ivis, I welcome you to my greenhouse. I hope in the coming days we can mutually learn from each other, I also hope you have a pleasant stay here.”

“I’m really too grateful!” she never thought that Rumont would be this straightforward and just agree to it. Miss Ivis’ face immediately revealed a pleasantly surprised expression.

In honest, before coming, Miss Ivis had considered over many different types of scenarios. Such as, after suggesting that she helped out in the greenhouse and study, Rumont would refuse, would be perfunctory, or would even shirk it. However, she had then never considered that the other would agree so straightforwardly.

Gazing at Rumont’s peaceful smile, Miss Ivis was curious as she inquired: “Lord Rumont, I really never thought you would be so magnanimous, most Druids would rarely let people into their own greenhouses!”

Rumont heheh laughed, this was the common sense of people. After all, in this world, the exchanging and learning within any kind of profession was not an all too easy matter. Especially as a Druid, they would conceal the secrets of a greenhouse even more.

However, on the contrary, as a reborn person that was once from Earth, Rumont did not have these kinds of notions.

Moreover, the greenhouse that Rumont had constructed might contain a few new concepts as some higher Rank Druids saw it. But they would essentially not spare a glance for it, it actually did not have much areas to conceal.

And the emergence of the similar Rank 3 female Druid was exactly what Rumont wanted. The other person wished to learn something from his greenhouse, so how would he also not wish to learn and have an exchange with a Druid of a similar Rank that had came out of solid learning?

Thus, Rumont had laughed and replied: “during my time as an apprentice, I had lost the guidance of a teacher. I entirely relied on the resources of the Guilds and my own familiarization. As a Rank 3 Druid, I understand the matter of how difficult it is in seeking knowledge. I naturally wouldn’t oppose you wanting to come here and assist me, what’s more, I still have many areas that I’ll need to study and consult over with you……”

Rumont did not conceal his own deficiencies in the area of basics, there were some things that teaching materials couldn’t cover.

When Miss Ivis heard this, she also laughed and extended her hand out: “then we’ll cooperate with each other.”

Rumont also shook hands, at this time, it just so happened to have workers bustling about in the surroundings. The pair standing at the centre of the greenhouse was a bit obstructive, Rumont and her then retreated to the side and watched these workers; his mood was also becoming better.

The pair waited for half an hour. Because there were a dozen workers working together, their speed was quite fast; the work of harvesting herbs had already reached a conclusion. The workers then took their leave while facing him, before successively departing.

And facing the gathered herbs in front of his eyes, Rumont earnestly inspected them once and discovered, that the output of these herbs were truly more than the herbs produced in the outside fields during normal seasons; the quality was also better.

When he looked at the pile of herbs, Miss Ivis was also at the side watching and had a rather amazed expression, she obviously discovered the discrepancy in quality and quantity. Looking for a short while, she then suddenly started to talk: “Lord Rumont, are you planning to put all of it on the market, or are you planning to use it yourself in medicines?”

Rumont looked at the other and gave a honest reply: “I plan to offload half into the market and leave the other half for later; as the raw ingredients for compounding medicines.”

“Can you permit me to work where you manufacture these medicines then?” Miss Ivis asked at once, as soon as she heard Rumont say this.

“This……I naturally welcome you!” Rumont immediately agreed!

Although compounding medications was a secret as others saw it, the medications that Rumont created were all the basics that all Druids would make. He had originally relied on the Shennong Horn spatial region, as well as the established greenhouse, to raise his household, thus, he basically didn’t have any prescriptions that he couldn’t reveal to the equivocal Rank 3 Druid, Miss Ivis.

Returning to the hall above, the pair sat down within the living room that had a fireplace, and had a loli serving up coffee.

Rumont drank a mouthful and then said: “Miss Ivis, though you came here for the Guild mission, if you want to stay here, you still need to sign a contract, especially in regards to the compounding of medicines.”

“You know, the general Mending vulneraries would cost about 15 silver coins. As for the medicine that I compound, it would be coupled with a special ingredient and have a pricing of 10 silver coins. If you participate, then each useable bottle of medicine that you complete each day, I’ll give you 7 silver coins as a form of remuneration for the spell casted. How you do you feel about it?”

Miss Ivis didn’t seem to particularly mind and said: “okay then, it’ll be like this then!”

“In that case, we’ll agree and sign a magical contract then. The allotted time will then be 3 months. After 3 months, we’ll then see how it pans out and decide whether to renew it.” Rumont took out 2 sheepskin coils from a drawer of a desk.

The pair then wrote out the clauses and further signed their own names separately.

“As for food and lodgings, you’ll get a small room and further enjoy a meal free of charge with us. Where do you wish to stay?”

“Lord Rumont, isn’t there another room over there? I hope to stay there.”

Rumont heard and nodded his head: “that’s okay then, I’ll bring you over.”

Everyone left in succession, with Jingle leading the way forward. It was another prayer room in the grand hall, it was currently completely empty.

Opening the door, the insides were relatively gloomy. The inside only had 1 table and did not have a bed.

One of the lolis alighted a candle and placed it on the table. Everyone had a look and discovered that the eastern wall was installed with a fireplace. The fireplace still had a vague symbol and picture from those years.

Rumont swept his gaze over it and didn’t pay attention to it, he instructed: “Jingle, notify them to bring over a bed, and a wardrobe, bookshelf, chair and so forth. You should all understand.”

Jingle cleverly said: “yes, my Lord, I understand. I’ll complete it before nightfall.”

After finishing his instructions, Rumont then lead Miss Ivis to the grand hall again and inside to the greenhouse, conducting a second visit. This time was comparatively more thorough, giving her a look at his own installations, as well as the compounding workflow; all the while giving her an explanation. When all was said and done, in the following short period, Miss Ivis would also stay here and assist him. If he didn’t explain it clearly, then troubles would appear in the later days.

And practically at the same time, Jingle had already brought along people that entered and exited the small living room. The first step was to completely and thoroughly sweep clean again the room, and afterwards, it was to place the new bed, wardrobe, as well as a bookshelf inside.

Following after was then a new table and chair. The firewood by the fireplace was also sent over, and further tested for the first time.

The only thing left was a new bed cover, which still required a specialist to warmly bake it for a while. But before night arrived, it would definitely be done. Overseeing everything, Rumont was exceptionally satisfied with Jingle———not only did she have potential, her work was neither bad.

When night arrived, Rumont led Miss Ivis into the living room.

Although the day was still early, the room inside already had a good few people inside. Nick was sitting inside, drinking coffee and figuring the account books. It was quickly approaching the year end, not only the estate, even the store work needed to be managed.

Leaning against the window, Fafnir was standing there, facing the outside of the window and gazing out at the entire estate. As for Sukhar, he was also here, inspecting the entire estate———over there, there were still a large group of Adventurers returning to the estate.

When Rumont led Miss Ivis in, everyone all gazed at them, and especially at Miss Ivis.

“Everyone, please take notice, this here is Miss Ivis, she’s a Rank 3 Druid and entrusted by the Guild for an exchange!” Rumont said: “Miss Ivis, this is Nick, Fafnir and Sukhar!”

“Miss Ivis, extremely pleased to meet you.” none of the 3 men dared to neglect her.

Nick even politely asked: “Miss Ivis, how do you do? What kind of dinner would you like? Would you like some fresh meat broth? I can guarantee that the flavour is rather good.”

Miss Ivis successfully thanked each person and said: “I don’t eat much, I only need fruit and cheese, and along with some bread it’s enough. I basically don’t eat meat!”

“Huh??” hearing this reply, everyone on site all turned their heads to look at Rumont. Rumont ate these things and was not at all this fussy.

They were similarly Druids, why was there such a big discrepancy eh?
