Chapter 77 – Distribution (Start)

What does it mean for an elephant to be bitten to death by an ant? To be greatly surprised1? Even though using an ant and elephant to describe Rumont and Lancas’ fighting ability was not at all 100 percent appropriate.

However, this was sufficient enough to show the result of this sudden change that caused everyone to be greatly in disbelief.

Correct, disbelief. Know that, at this moment Rumont was but a Rank 2 Druid, and Lancas was already a Rank 4, on the verge of breaking through to a Rank 5 Paladin.

One was a Rank 2, and furthermore was a Druid that lost his spells. The other was a Rank 4 Warrior. If was merely a comparison of the contrast in power, then 5 Rumont’s weren’t enough to be Lancas’ match.

Afterall, speaking of the kind of profession a Warrior was, every Rank that was raised was quite difficult. Correspondingly, every Rank increased, the power one could virtually obtain was greatly increased.

Thus, under such a situation, Rumont’s seizing of a utmost struggle only made everyone astonished. As for him at this moment, he could only choose to struggle to his utmost.

The hatred between him and Lancas was deep, this time it had even reached a condition where it was incapable of being resolved. If he didn’t kill Lancas, then it was Lancas who killed him. Under such a circumstance, the most capable murdering techniques would naturally be utilized by him without the slightest of reserves.

As for what he had once studied, furthermore practicing many times the Assassination techniques he had learnt from the Thieves, using it at this time would be the most effective.

As for the dagger that Rumont was grasping within his hands, first of all, it was quite sharp, it differed from the frequently used type of common daggers that the Adventurers used. The dagger was made of an even stronger substance, it was also even harder. Using it to assassinate the opponent, it was able to skewer ordinary armour when one’s entire strength was poured in. How could a man’s flesh withstand it? Furthermore, if it was carefully scrutinized per se then it would even be discovered, that close to the edge of the dagger there were even 2 small strangely shaped hooks; twinkling under the sunlight with a bleak light. To speak of their uses would perhaps cause people to be disappointed. During the moment when this dagger was pulled away, the two small hooks would hook onto the flesh on the wound, in order to give an even bigger injury. This allowed Rumont have the advantage weapon-wise.

And looking at the situation then, Lancas had already firmly believed that Rumont was long devoid of any resisting capabilities. Rumont’s sudden strike could be said to be outside of the opponent’s expectation.

And as a matter of fact, the situation was also indeed like how Rumont envisioned beforehand. The dagger used a type of extremely fast speed to cunningly enter the opponent’s heart, and with a fierce pulling after, some heart segments had even been pulled out by the small hooks on the dagger.

The scene at the time was exceeding chaotic. When the dagger was violently pulled out, fresh blood had abruptly burst out from the opponent’s wound, while not one bit had fallen on the dagger itself. Rumont’s body was even so clean that not even one drop of blood was adhered to him. This was also the brilliance of the assassination technique. Even if 10 people were killed, drops of blood would still be unable to stick to the body. One stab and extraction later, Lancas had his eyes wide opened with an expression of disbelief. His body slowly tilted back, a rumbling sound from the ground, it had toppled onto the ground.

Seeing him crash loudly to the ground, Rumont’s face showed a faint bitter smile.

Rumont was more than jubilant. Even more joyous was that he could from the killed opponent, from the opponent’s own mouth, obtain a pretext he had always wanted to obtain. A pretext with the opportunity to possibly go get rid of Priest Dennis.

Compared to hidden danger that Lancas was, continuing to leave Priest Dennis alone would only further threaten his own safety and future. The opponent had usually been low-profiled towards him, and was for the longest times had been even more law abiding since Barcas’ death; Rumont could never find a suitable justification to clear off what he considered to be the even greater hidden danger.

In the end, the opportunity had arrived. Just then, when Lancas had spoken of Priest Dennis’ name and all his conducts and deeds, apart from the nervousness brought about of being about to obtain an opportunity, Rumont’s heart was even more relaxed, type of feeling from at last finding a way to handle his enemy.

“Rumont, you alright?” seeing Lancas’ corpse fall on the ground, Rumont gave out a long sigh. Following which he proceeded with playing the appearance of weakness as he sat onto the floor, endlessly gasping raggedly for air; not wishing to reveal too much of his character and exposing the secret of the small goddess icon.

As for Commander Howard who was the closest to Rumont, he had witnessed the entirety in front of him. After a good while did he then arouse his mind from amidst of shock, before gazing at Rumont with awe. Not understanding where Rumont’s power came from to kill a person, he was even more worried that his injury would worsen because of this.

Just then he had only saw Rumont’s body abruptly leaping away, before Lancas’ chest already had a dagger and had then collapsed onto the ground. And because Rumont didn’t wish to show off too brilliantly, he was currently sitting on the floor. It was also an appearance of weak health as Howard saw it.

The others, even though they felt that it was strange that Rumont was able to injure someone despite being heavily injured, Lancas’ death still allowed them to sigh with relief. That kind of situation just then could be said to have already reached a critical juncture, no one would believe that Rumont’s actions would be too excessive or violent.

And not too far from Lancas’ corpse, Scarlet Mary’s eyes were still wide open, seeming to not understand for what reason why herself would become a wrongly prosecuted under Lancas’ action. A rather satirical implication.

“I’m alright. I still had a healing spell I didn’t use, I was able to repair my injury. However, moving so suddenly, I’m currently without any strength.” Rumont used his arm to prop himself on the ground, wanting to stand up with great difficulties, his body was rocking and swaying about; a serious injury tentatively healed type of weak appearance.

“So that’s how it is. Luckily we had you just then. Otherwise, today we’d all be dead here. This Lancas is a really crazy and insane guy. For the sake of his private grudge, he was able to carry out a murder during the execution of a mission; unexpectedly not even letting his own teammates go.” Howard gazed at Lancas’ corpse with abhorrence and spoke fiercely.

The other two members of Howard’s squad also regarded Lancas’ conduct with resentment. At such a moment, the few members of Lancas’ squad were silent, nobody again said anything.

The mood became incomparably heavy in that moment. And in under such an awkward atmosphere, nobody even had the inclination to suspect whether Rumont’s wound was real or fake, which naturally let Rumont dodge it smoothly in passing by.

Afterall, for the sake of leaving one healing spell, it was not considered a behaviour of deceit. As for why Rumont could move after healing, everyone could only conclude it was the influence of a Druid’s cultivation towards the state of a one’s own recovery of the body. Giving oneself a treatment and treating oneself, the results would naturally be different.

Because Rumont’s one strike was utterly and severely rigorous, thus after the strike, Lancas had already met a violent death.

This was the difference between an assassination technique and a general martial skill. Ordinary martial skills could certainly injure and kill people during a fight, but in comparison to the instant kill of a landed assassination technique, there was still a major difference.

And after Rumont had ascertained that Lancas was already thoroughly dead, he once again placed his dagger into his boot. Because his self preserving martial skills still wasn’t considered to be too formidable, thus Rumon,t apart from carrying a sword on his body, had also place an Assassin’s dagger in his boots. This way, in different kinds of circumstances and situations, he would able to freely use his dagger; under suitable opportunities it would be able to guarantee his life.

In regards to the handling of the corpses of Lancas and Scarlet Mary, everyone had unanimously agreed to first arrange a place for them here, before waiting for later days for when the Adventurers Guild would investigate to then again transport it.

But even if it was like so, because presently it was still full of the injured, although they had already received treatments from Rumont, with their wounds healing or already recovered, wanting to recover their ability to move and return to the stone chamber would still require a while.

Within this period of time, Rumont, the sole person that could move his body, had shouldered the responsibility to look after them. In addition, in the process of inspecting the surroundings, he had accidently discovered quite a deal of treasure.

This treasure could quite possibly be from when the people had initially stored it here. It was unknown whether the people who concealed the treasures had already passed away, or they had already forgotten about this place. This treasure was occupied by an enormous proportion of gold, which was convenient for Rumont and others.

Although there was the split second of an idea of hogging the treasure; which was quite easy, so long as it was moved within to the Shennong Hong spatial region. However, it was followed in which this idea was quickly waved away from Rumont’s mind.

When he then informed everyone of the news of the treasure, everyone again then saw him all the more differently. Even the members of Lancas’ squad who had formerly had prejudice against him were now secretly admiring.

“Heheh, good work Rumont.” when Commander Howard recovered his mobility and saw the treasure pile, he further patted Rumont’s shoulder. Although he didn’t say anything, Rumont still understood his meaning. With such a large treasure in front, he still didn’t for the sake of wealth go and harm the teammates that were temporarily unable to resist. This kind of conduct could be said to be done quite easily. But if the pile in front of your eyes was of gold sufficient to be worth how many several thousands of gold coins, then the people not having any wicked desires were really quite few.

As for everyone that had just experienced a calamity of life and death, meeting with this pile of wealth, even if they were indignant, they also couldn’t help but be consoled.

And after a brief moment of respite, everyone’s physical strength had also recovered somewhat. At this moment, staying amidst of the grand hall filled with corpses any longer, honestly wasn’t an event that would make anyone glad about.

Thus, everyone brought the unexpected and generous spoils of war, and hurried returned to the stone chamber above.

At this time, the secret door opened to the stone chamber, the people that were left behind had evidently recovered their strength. Precisely at this time, there were people standing around in small groups all together, idly gossiping away.

Only looking at their expressions, there seemed to be some anxiety. Fafnir’s loud voice was just proposing that everyone went down. His voice was more than loud, even the people that still hadn’t come out of the secret passage had heard it clearly and distinctly.

And it was at such a pivotal point in time, Rumont and the others emerged out of the secret passageway. When those few people came up, those remaining people jumped greatly in fright.

“Rumont, what’s wrong with you guys?”
