Chapter 76 – Savage (End)

Chapter 76 – Savage (End)

Scarlet Mary died quite miserably. Her body was was chopped by a sword at a slant from her right shoulder down; being split into two like that. When she toppled over, everyone all seemed to have seen the painful struggles of the female, who always had a rather favourable impression of Lancas, her twitching fingers and her mouth seemed to want to say something; yet ultimately nothing was ever spoken.

Blood. It was bathing the floor like a river in an instant. This blood was even more than what Rumont bled when he was injured, it was also more thought provoking for everyone.

The trace of delusions that the members of Lancas’ squad had originally kept for Lancas, was now thoroughly extinguished from their thoughts. For the purpose of his own objectives, he did not even let his own team member who had the most confidence in him go; this man was already currently in a frenzied state.

And Rumont at this time, the recovery of his body had already reached a critical area. Superficially, he had the appearance of just approaching death; seeming to be completely weak and in pain.

However, in actuality, currently within his body, an enormous change was just taking place. An immense power was just constantly bubbling into his body from the gap of the small wooden idol. This power was just concentrating in some mysterious location within his inner body.

Rumont could feel this clearly. Some mysterious location within his body was just leaping joyously and gradually growing. At the same time, some by-product was also spreading throughout every corner of his body.

The painful sword wound on his abdomen was evidently and gradually lessening. In addition, the wound also had some faint itchiness. Rumont had once in the past, after being injured, treated his own wound using a healing spell. He knew this kind of feeling was precisely a manifestation of the wound rapidly fusing.

However, the good circumstances weren’t for long, the power that came from within the icon was increasingly stronger. The first wave of energy that entered his abdomen had made his wound fuse even faster at the same time. The next lot of energy, again rushed forth from the small wooden idol.

Prior to this, his abdomen was amidst a comfortable warm heat. The next moment, his abdomen was already like a suddenly ignited inferno; a raging blaze was roasting him. This caused his throat to abruptly dry up, it was as if he was a person on the verge of dying of thirst, hoping to have a cold water readily pour into his body.

And just as he was healing, while the wound was just beginning to alleviate in pain, the next portion of energy teared at him. Once again mangling him, his flesh becoming indistinct.

Merely this kind of suffering did not last very long. Along with the power endlessly spreading, it again began to rebuild Rumont’s wound on his body. But it still did not entirely let Rumont be liberated from the previous suffering, when again another burst of energy had again rushed forth into his body from within the small wooden icon. This time, his wound was again once more tore open. Bursting and splitting in all directions. Because it was incapable of tolerating the immense power, the seriousness of the wound all the more worsened.

Especially the mysterious region within his body, it also could not bear the immense power, it was in pain. This kind of feeling, from amongst his memory, had also appeared numerous amounts of time for the former Rumont in the past. However, at this very moment, did he understand what pain truly was. The feeling of being endlessly torn while being powerless was truly quite suffering.

And just when Rumont had already decided to shout towards the heavens, shouting about how they were again playing with him, within his body, that portion of power that belonged to the Shennong Horn had finally awakened again. Afterwards, there was a reaction from the powers that entered his body previously.

A gentle ice-cold feeling that was different to the prior immense energies, had appeared from the deepest of his inner body.

This kind of feeling gradually from the midsts of the idol energy, made its rushing actions become all the increasingly more gentle. In the end, although there was still a power that unceasingly rushed forth into his body from the idol, the feelings of pain were no longer as obvious.

It was as if there was an objective, the power within the idol, apart from a small portion of energy that remained and had proceeded to repair his wound, had catalysed the growth for the mysterious region and furthermore allowed his physical strength to gradually recover, the remaining majority of power had tranquilly hidden within his body.

And it was at such a critical moment that Lancas had suddenly made things difficult, hacking Scarlet Mary to her death.

Arriving at such a moment, Rumont understood he himself could no longer be silent. The result of continuing to be silent before he had fully recovered would result in Lancas who had already lost all rationality, in having already killed him off.

“Lancas, wait a minute!” seeing Lancas lift his sword and advancing towards Hero who was comparatively closer than him, Rumont instantly called out.

Lancas squinted his eyes and sombrely gazed at Rumont. Seeing that the other had surprisingly at this moment, still maintain a calm face while watching him attentively, he couldn’t help but hmph: “what is it? What are you so urgent about that you want to die first?”

Rumont pretended to appear in poor health, asking with great difficulties: “no, I just want to know, why you would act against me. I believe the others also wish to know the reason. Before you kill us, can’t you let me know clearly the truth of the matter.”

“You wish to know the truth?” Lancas was silent for a bit and then quietly laughing: “that’s good. I’ll let you understand before you die. After all, even if you all know any more, you still won’t expose it out. Let’s just say Rumont, I’m killing you, for the sake of avenging my father.”

“Your father?” Rumont quickly recalled within his mind before suddenly thinking of a possibility.

“Correct. I am Barcas’ son. You never thought that when you first killed my father, that today, it would be my turn to kill you. This world is truly fair eh.” seeing Rumont looking at himself with an astonished gaze, he knew that the other had already guessed his own identity. He simply revealed everything. “You currently understand everything right?”

Saying this, Lancas once again lifted his sword up and again headed towards Hero.

Rumont once again called to halt. “Wait a moment! I still have a question!”

“You really have a lot of questions ah.” Lancas again stood still. Seeming to feel that this was rather delightful, he squinted his eyes and heheh laughed: “ask then, you want to stall for time right? I’m afraid that your injuries won’t heal so fast. Before this, I would have long ago gotten rid of all of you, not letting you guys to breath a moment longer. Ask away. Today is your final moment. If you don’t ask it today, later on, you’ll never have the chance again eh.”

“I don’t understand, why didn’t you just find me directly for a duel and instead need to organize such a farce……” Rumont deliberately said it weakly.

Meanwhile, the other people, also listened in tranquility. In regards to Rumont’s attempts of stalling for time, they completely understood. Although they did not believe the other would allow them the chance for a counterattack, but Rumont’s actions of stopping Lancas from murdering others twice, allowed the members from Lancas’ squadron who formerly had prejudice against him, to feel quite grateful.

At such a time, honestly, the thoughts of these few members of Lancas’ squadron were utterly complex and contradictory. Originally, they thought the Commander would bring the squadron honour, but ultimately it had brought them disaster. As for the young Druid that they had always looked down upon, he had, at the critical moment for the sake of human lives, constantly stalled for time; fighting for an opportunity. This kind of contrasting reality couldn’t help but make them begin some soul-searching, introspecting whether there was a problem in their own ability to judge a person.

As for Lancas, who had attentively watched Rumont from the start, after he had heard the query asked, his face exposed a faint sneer. “Honestly, if it was according to my own thoughts, I had really wanted to when I first laid my eyes on you, take the sword out and kill you. However, what Priest Dennis said was quite appropriate, for the sake of killing such a bastard like you and towards my future, it really isn’t worth it. Thus, we had organized this ploy. So long as I kill and get rid of all you before I go up and tell them, saying that you all died during of combat with bugbears, relying on my recent flawless performance, there definitely wouldn’t be anyone that would doubt me. Haha, the more I think of it the more I feel this plan is perfect ah.”

“Priest Dennis?” Rumont’s eyes flashed. However, the peculiar expression was concealed by him quite quickly, he pretended to be unconvinced and questioned further: “how is that possible, he’s a Priest of the Earth Goddess Shrine, how would it be possible for him to do such a thing. Lancas, it’s already at such a stage, you still want to slander others?”

Lancas seemed to be looking at an idiot as he watched him. Haha laughingly said: “are you truly that foolish or are you pretending ah. Priest Dennis has always wanted to get rid of you. Don’t tell me you’re not one bit aware of such a matter? I truly don’t know what I ought to tell you ah. Alright, what I should say has been said. Presently, let me first finish you off so as to avoid you asking me anything else, causing me more troubles.”

Saything this, Lancas sure enough did not go kill the others, instead he first faced Rumont and headed over. At this time, the repair of Rumont’s body was basically finished, his wound had already healed well, quite rapidly beneath his clothing. His physical strength, under the cleansing of the idol energies, had also become utterly plentiful.

However, seeing that Lancas was heading towards himself, Rumont still played out a struggling with great effort yet unable to budge sort of appearance, as to baffle the opponent; seeking a good opportunity to act.

“Rumont, want to know what I’m going to do after right? I’m going to use a knife, and first cut off your hands before then stuffing your fingers into your mouth, making you taste the flavour of your own fingers.”

Arriving at Rumont’s vicinity, Lancas’ face adorned a merciless smile. The gaze in which he looked at Rumont’s with, also appeared to be appreciating a prey he was on the verge of playing with.

“Lancas! You lunatic!” Howard and the others by the side shouted. It was a pity that at the present, they didn’t have any means to move. Thus, they could only look on helplessly as the other mockingly gazed at themselves, while themselves were powerless.

“Quiet, it’ll be your turn soon enough. Presently, I’m letting you enjoy a game with me. A murdering game of scrapping a person.” Lancas said and prepared to act against Rumont.

And it was when Lancas had turned his head to speak with Howard and the others, when Rumont’s eyes flashed, he had already concentrated. Just when Lancas turned his head back and was preparing to act against Rumont, Rumont’s hand that had always been in his waist pocket, seemingly placed there casually, had suddenly whipped out, while at the same time, his body was like a spring, ferociously jumping towards Lancas.

His speed was extremely fast, it was as if this action had once been refined over numerous amounts of practices, and Rumont’s hand had taken out a dagger that had been hanging at his waist; incomparable sharp. The assassination skill was initially learnt from the Thieves Guild, after learning it, it had gone through many times of practice and study, but today was the first time it was seriously applied.

The dagger stabbed into Lancas’ heart before acting in accordance with the stolen skill and violently twisted. The heart was immediately smashed.

Rumont retreated backwards abruptly, fearing the counter-attack of Lancas at death’s door. But in actual fact, Lancas simply did not have this reaction. He stood for a bit, just shocked at discovering such an unforeseen event. He opened his mouth and a mouthful of fresh blood was spurted out. Finally, nothing could be said.

Staying for two seconds, the corpse then loudly collapsed to the floor.
