Chapter 75 – Savage (Start)

This unforeseen event had practically occurred in an instant. Although during this moment, where Lancas chopped and Rumont was chopped at, the icon had caused a strange change. Many events had occurred, but the real amount of time that passed was honestly as long as it took to snap the fingers.

Personal feud. It was allowed during other situations. During a just and honourable duel, or perhaps assassination was acceptable. Yet, during the time when a squadron cooperated, en route of executing such a mission and suddenly becoming hostile towards a member of the same squadron, this kind of action as Howard and the other Adventurers saw it, was truly even more despicable than secretly killing or using conspiracies and deceit to kill someone.

This was neglecting one’s own honour. This was also trampling over the trust the team had to him. Such a conduct during a mission wouldn’t allow for forgiveness by the team. As a veteran Adventurer, Howard detested this kind of behaviour of bringing one’s personal feud into the course of a mission even more bitterly.

However, even though he thought like this, it didn’t represent that everyone thought like this. At least, looking at the current situation, the members of Lancas’ squadron were silent after being initially shocked.

They all awaited their Commander’s explanation. Explaining for what reason he needed to kill Rumont. Within their hearts, they also hoped that their Commander could give them a reasonable explanation.

Even though Rumont had just treated them, allowing them to feel quite grateful, but being members of the same squadron, they would naturally be more biased towards their own Commander.

Furthermore, Lancas’ martial skills, poise, charisma and methods were all at the top. Within a short period of time, it had earned no small amount of trust from everyone. Thus, on one hand it was the prejudice that the members originally had for him, and on the other hand it was their own Commander; the people of Lancas’ squad would naturally choose the latter.

A person that caused Scarlet Mary to be afraid of when she looked. He laughed grandly, laughing until he was almost unable to breathe, before stopping afterwards. His upper arm was constantly twitching, seeming like he heard of some funny matter.

“What are you laughing at! You still haven’t told us for what reason you acted treacherously against Rumont! You’re a lunatic!” seeing that he could still laugh surprisingly, Commander Howard bellowed at him at once.

“Haha! What am I laughing at?” Lancas laughed lightly, at the same time he used his finger to point to his own nose. “Want to know what I’m laughing at right? Heheh, I’m laughing at all of you! I’m laughing at how stupid you all are!”

He abruptly stretched out his arm, cruelly clutching onto Scarlet Mary’s hair and violently lifting her head up.

Seeing her gazing at him in dismay, Lancas once again began to smile.

This smile was similar to the past smiles, but seen within Scarlet Mary’s eyes, it appeared to be eerily frightening. Her complexion immediately became extremely unsightly.

“Understand now? I’ve been quite disgusted by you since the start. Only, for the sake of flawlessly completing my planned revenge, I had no choice but to endure your unpleasant sounding voice and endure your loathsome causing expressions.” Lancas sneered and said as he looked down with a gaze of disgust, treating Scarlet Mary seemingly like a piece of trash within his hand; his appearance was one that seemed to be nauseated by seeing her.

She struggled to pull her head back, wanting to even increase her distance to Lancas as much as possible.

Lancas sneered and pointed at everyone. “All you need to know, is that Rumont is my enemy. Thus, today I CAN and MUST kill him! No, no, no! I can’t just kill him so easily, I need to leave him on the verge of death, making him watch as I personally chop his arm off, chop his leg off. I need to torture him for a good while. I can’t let him easily go to his death!”

At this point, seemingly already seeing such a situation, Lancas’ face had crazily showed a type of almost perverted and merciless smile.

“Lancas! So you’ve long planned this!” Howard associated the recent events and suddenly realized, before then indignantly asking: “could it be that you’re not afraid of the entire Adventurers Guild hunting you?!”

The Adventurers Guild had explicitly stated that during the execution of a mission, it would not permit mutual slaughtering of the same teammates.

Rebelling within the same squadron would not only receive the hostility from the entire world of Adventurers, the people that triggered it would even be severely punished by the Adventurers Guild.
